The repartition of Europe after the Congress of Vienna marks a deep cut in the history of Saxony and can still be felt today. The exhibition aims to reflect this by describing the fates of selected families in a regional and supraregional context.
This “cut” sets the theme of the exhibition and continuously unfolds in showcases and on walls. Incisive incidents and destinies emerge from behind grey surfaces. Finally, visitors have the opportunity to take side and give vent to their feelings. Inspired by the tradition of one of the families presented, they may show their allegiance by spitting cherry pits “on” Saxony or Prussia. Simply throwing them is also an option, of course.
