The new entrée in the former stables provides the ideal starting point for a personalized discovery tour of the complex: Like a trailer, it introduces visitors to the most exciting chapters of the castle's eventful history and sharpens their eye for hidden traces and lesser-known themes. A large, tactile model of the vanished castle forms the centerpiece of the presentation and impressively demonstrates that Stolpen was once more than a ruin: a bishop's seat, an electoral residence, a center of power, and a site of geological features. The most important chapters of the complex are visualized throughout, and hands-on stations reinforce a family-oriented visitor experience that invites visitors to try things out and discover. The adjacent torture chamber, an authentic site, tells of Stolpen's darker side: Here, the bishops wielded the power to execute sentences, and torture was part of the legitimate understanding of law at the time.
Thus, the new entrance provides an inspiring start to a personalized castle adventure.
