On the occasion of its 850th anniversary, the Altzella monastery is showing an exhibition on the library and the history of the “Sachsenspiegel”. Center stage was our desire to experience the library hall with its impressive architecture as undisturbed as possible, and the exhibition furniture was placed conservatively at the southern end. The three elements made of smoked oak wood play with the motif of a stack of books with their different thicknesses, colours and grains. Light boxes and showcases set in steel present the content. A media library provides further information and is constantly updated and expanded as a contemporary library.
