In a major retrospective, the Landesmuseum Bonn is presenting photo series by photojournalist Dirk Reinartz. His view of Germany before and after reunification. His exploration of the Holocaust. His foreign reporting.
The exhibition showcases more than just his photographs. Mostly created in the context of reportage, the photo series are closely linked to headlines and texts. Workbenches provide insight into his working methods, his exploration of motifs, and even his selection for illustrated books and the development of their layouts. Color-coded, the exhibition creates thematic worlds that emphasize the versatility of his work. White and linear – Deadly Still: his documentation of German concentration camps. Luminous against a black background – America: His vibrantly colored images of US reportage from the 1950s. Interspersed with the nuances of his work. In a separate cube made of Corten steel, the long-term documentation of Richard Serra's works is displayed.
