The Altenburg discovery portal presents its guests with the most exciting excursion destinations in Altenburg and Eastern Thuringia. It shows a city and region in transition. Conceived as a sustainable project, many elements of the pavilion at the 2021 National Garden Show in Erfurt were reused, adapted, and repurposed. The aim was to use the existing material and selective additions to create a new world of experience that arouses curiosity with all the senses. In addition to films, video games, audio stations, illustrations, and regional recipes to take with you, there is also a bratwurst stand and a dialect quiz. A central market square provides orientation about the immediate city surroundings. It introduces the areas of nature, culture and regional discovery to guests and leads them to the insider tips of Altenburg natives. The ideal starting point for an excursion.
